EN: This project was born from the personal need to investigate my form of color blindness and try to face its social stigma.

Nothing to see is a collection of Ishihara's plates that are illegible to me, made legible only by a sighted person, who by going over the numbers/shapes he has identified will reveal to the colorblind what is shown. This will open up a dialogue, which will help the colorblind to be able to talk about it and de-stigmatize the deficit, bringing both parties closer together.

Often a colorblind person finds himself subjected to the goliardia of other people towards him and although this can also be done without malice, this inevitably intervenes in the perception of himself, of his own limits and of his own possibilities. A color blind person could then develop insecurities, not consider himself suitable for certain jobs and be induced to give up pursuing his vocation, aptitude, passion.

Ishihara's tables were generated with a Processing algorithm developed by me. The code turned out to be the only tool to be able to generate the tables, as my deficit would have made it impossible for me to manually create them.

IT: Questo progetto nasce dal personale bisogno di indagare sulla mia forma di discromatopsia e cercare di affrontarne lo stigma sociale.

Nothing to see è una raccolta di tavole di Ishihara per me illeggibili, rese leggibili solo da un normo vedente, che ripassando numeri/forme da lui identificate, rivelerà al discromatopsico ciò che è figurato. Si aprirà così un dialogo, che aiuterà il daltonico a poterne parlare e de-stigmatizzare il deficit, facendo avvicinare le entrambe le parti.

Spesso un discromatopsico si ritrova a subire la goliardia di altre persone nei suoi riguardi e nonostante questo possa anche essere fatto senza malizia, inevitabilmente interviene nella percezione di sé, dei propri limiti e delle proprie possibilità. Un discromatopsico potrebbe allora sviluppare delle insicurezze, non ritenersi adeguato a certi mestieri ed essere indotto a rinunciare a perseguire la propria vocazione, attitudine, passione.

Le tavole di Ishihara sono state generate con un algoritmo in Processing da me sviluppato. Il codice, si è rivelato l’unico strumento per poter generare le tavole, in quanto il mio deficit mi avrebbe reso impossibile la creazione manuale delle stesse.
